FTSE 100 Index finishes the day up 95 points up
The FTSE 100 finishes the day up 1.66 per cent with BP and Royal Dutch Shell among the top performers on the index.
In America, both the Dow Jones and S&P 500 are performing similar to the FTSE 100 in afternoon trading.
Virgin Atlantic to stop flying from Gatwick
To stay afloat, Virgin Atlantic has confirmed it will be making 3,000 staff redundant and to stop flights from the UK’s second busiest airport Gatwick.
The news comes days after British Airways confirmed it is in consultation to axe 12,000 jobs and the possibility of cancelling all flights from Gatwick.

FTSE 100 Index starts the day on a positive note
London’s main index starts the day up over 80 points with mining stocks Glencore and Anglo American both up over 4 per cent.
European and American futures would indicate a positive day in both regions.

Hong Kong – Hang Seng Index up after yesterdays rout
After losing nearly 1,000 points yesterday the Hang Seng Index is 0.85 per cent up in afternoon trading.
